Perhaps you or someone you know is frustrated with a child’s academic progress. Are American children getting the best education possible? Schools have become a big business and a big part of our tax dollars. We constantly hear of more money being poured into schools or at least requests for more funds. While I believe it is important to have sufficient supplies in schools and to offer good salaries to teachers in order to have the best in the field, it is also necessary to start thinking of inexpensive ways to improve the education of our children.
Take a step back in time to when you were playing a game of “catch” with a friend. What happened when your friend became disinterested in the game and stopped catching the ball? The game could not go on without both people participating. You may have been disappointed because you really wanted to continue the game, and there was nothing you could do to get your friend to play again. That is much like what happens in a classroom when a student does not participate in his education. Teachers become frustrated when they have prepared good lessons, but students do not do the work that is required. Sometimes students are so disrespectful to teachers that the lesson cannot be continued and all students in the classroom suffer. The game of “catch” cannot continue and no learning takes place.
By reading my book, Save the Children; Save Our Country, you will learn that there are certain behaviors that must be encouraged at home in order to get students ready to learn. Parents must “do their jobs” before sending their children to school, so teachers can do their jobs. The student, parents and teachers should all be active participants in this “game of catch. By investing some time at home to encourage certain behaviors, parents can affordably help their children to be better students. Some parents may need to “tweak” their mindset a bit and this book will help.
